Exemplary landscape for British Veterans.

Broughton House

Manchester

Broughton House is an existing residential care facility for British forces veterans and their families. Exa designed the landscape for the proposed redevelopment of the site which will enlarge and modernise the home and associated facilities.

The proposal includes a new pedestrian entrance and commemorative wall as well as a communal courtyard garden for residents. The courtyard elements such as the bandstand and bowling green will engender a community spirit. Sympathetic to residents with dementia specialised design features have been included such as sensory planting beds and a babbling brook as well as the gently curving layout of the spaces. A number of large specimen trees are proposed on the periphery of the site which already boasts a significant mature tree resource.
