Client Wandsworth Council
PROJECT CONTEXT The Thames Path Project looks to improve river side pedestrian link and assocaited public realm running the southern banks of the River Thames. Phase 02 covers the section between Chelsea and Grosvenor Bridges, connecting Battersea Park to Battersea Power Station.
THE PROPOSAL The proposal looks to improve safety and visibility on the site in support of an increased number of pedestrians moving through the space to BPS Phase 01. A central, interlinked line of terraced planters, both raised and in ground, provide opportunites for SUDS amd seating, and are positioned to ensure a sense of ownership is retained for the commercial units looking onto the space.
PLANTING The planting design draws on the site context of Battersea Park and the Thames Path palette, with a focus on creating seasonal interest and supporting SUDS. Plant heights and positioning have been carefully considered along with the height of planters to ensure a degree of visibility is retained across the site from the public highway.
