Southwark housing: RUTLEY CLOSE, RYE HILL PARK, SEAVINGTON HOUSE

ROLE            Landscape Architects
ARCHITECT  Weston Williamson + Partners
CLIENT         Southwark Council
STATUS        Pre-planning

THE APPROACH  The proposal involves a series of residential developments for existing sites owned by Southwark Council. The designs respond to the user profiles of the future residents and surrounding existing neighbourhood.

COHESIVE DESIGN LANGUAGE  The design process established a standardised materials and planting palette and design language that can be replicated across the varying sites and inform future developments, creating an identity for residential developments within Southwark.

COMMUNITY  Spaces that allow for passive and active recreation, including play areas, and community interaction between residents. A new streetscape enhances and contributes to the existing neighbourhood context.

GREEN INFRASTRUCTURE  New shrub and tree planting contributes to and establishes green infrastructure within each development and connects to the wider green network. Wildflower planting and emphasis on native plant
species contributes to the sites biodiversity potential.
