PROJECT DRIVER   Mitigating against the negative impact of new housing on protected habitat.

PROJECT AIM To improve access and recreational opportunities in the green artery of Exeter, offering a range of walking experiences/distances/difficulties for a diverse user profile.

SUGGESTED STRATEGIES  New foot ways, routes and infrastructure allowing for conservation areas, supported by way-finding typologies, entrance way improvements and sustainable facilities such as toilets and cafés.

 USER-LED APPROACH  The design process was informed by an interactive survey of 110 park users, focus group meetings, and a public engagement ‘visioning’ event held in the park.

WORKING WITH ECOLOGISTS  Footprint Ecology provided specialist conservation advise throughout the project, carrying out primary research based on user surveys and data and user information, ensuring the masterplan responded to existing users.
