This rural site south of Derby is located in close proximity to two major roads being the A50 to the south and A6 to the west. Exterior Architecture in association with SCARP, was appointed by Dignity PLC to provide LVIA and landscape design services to this detailed planning application with help from EA. The proposed crematorium would involve the introduction of a new, contemporary building, which appears float in a series of shallow water features on its periphery and these are set within a memorial landscape park. A tree lined, processional drive aims to engage and enhance visitors emotions and give a sense of grandeur on entering the site. Once at the Crematorium parking area visitors walk on bridges over shallow water features to an extended building canopy. Once visitors are in the Chapel a carefully constructed view to a sculptural feature, located at the end of a gently rising landform, raise the eye to the heavens and form a key focus from the Chapel.
