Friary Park

Acton, London

Friary Park is an estate regeneration project which is a joint venture Estate regeneration in the London Borough of Ealing. ExA have supported Mt Anvil and Catalyst Housing to create a Park like setting for the new development. Key principles for the redesign involved a reduction in car access and the prioritisation of pedestrians, highlighted by the pedestrianisation of Friar’s Walk. This seeks to establish a useable, programmable, high quality public realm that provides a space dedicated to human health and community interaction.

An Ecology and Biodiversity strategy has been adopted to inspire landscape character areas, including SuDS, habitat-based planting in conjunction with rich and diverse planting tree palettes. The activities of the park landscape inspire the programming of the wider landscape, with the scheme adopting Transport for London’s ‘Healthy Streets’ & ‘people first principles’ to create a space dedicated to nature and community.
