EA Expands Shortly After Opening a New Manchester Office

Landscape architecture practice Exterior Architecture has expanded its team in Manchester following the establishment of its studio in the city in March this year. Shaun Lyons has been appointed as Landscape Architect joining the practice’s other recent recruit Sophie Parker-Loftus.

After completing a Masters in Landscape Architecture at Sheffield University in 2013, Shaun went on to develop his skills at landscape architecture practice Bradley Murphy Design prior to joining Exterior Architecture. Shaun has worked on a diverse range of projects and his exceptional ability to visualise design solutions is seen as a great asset to the practice.

Commenting on Shaun’s appointment, Exterior Architecture’s Manchester Director Jonathan Miley said:

“The appointment of Shaun represents an important next step in the development of our Manchester studio as we continue to be successful in the city and the wider region. Very few people realise that Exterior Architecture has worked in Manchester for over 10 years and the establishment of our studio here is testament to our confidence and commitment to continuing that trend.”

Exterior Architecture is led by Partners Sam Martin and Leighton Pace and since opening a studio in Manchester they have worked with clients including Capital & Centric, Ask Developments and Starwood Hotels. As one of the UK’s fastest growing landscape architecture practices, Exterior Architecture is involved in a number of high profile projects including the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station. Closer to Manchester, historically the practice has been involved in some of the city’s most sort after residential developments including Lumiere and Skyline Central.

Commenting on Exterior Architecture expanding its Manchester team, Sir Richard Leese, Leader of Manchester City Council, had the following to say:

"I've been aware of Exterior Architecture and its work in Manchester since their involvement in Skyline Central in 2005. I met Sam in 2011 whilst speaking together at a conference in Christchurch about the rebuilding of the earthquake-damaged city. Sam and Leighton have kept in touch on their numerous trips to Manchester before establishing a studio here. Their presence in the Manchester market is an exciting prospect and it’s great to hear about their success to date. I wish them luck going forward and extend them a warm welcome to the city.”
